For a lot of people, Europe is a metaphor for freedom and international cooperation, for peaceful coexistence across borders. But Europe is also contested – and its complexity is often difficult to communicate.

In Amsterdam, we took on the task of communicating Europe convincingly with international creatives on the occasion of Eurolab. Eurolab was initiated by Rem Koolhaas and Wolfgang Tillmans and began as a Europe-wide competition, which Pius and a total of 20 creatives won. For the competition, we initially developed a poster campaign that plays with stereotypes and takes a fresh look at Europe.

The collaboration with Rem Koolhaas ultimately resulted in an experimental video showing German Chancellor Angela Merkel in a fictitious Ted Talk. Using the voice of an artificial intelligence, unexpected statements are put into her mouth.
